The high-level engagement underscored Pakistan’s strategic importance as a key partner and potential hub for investment and innovation. Discussions included an exchange on Pakistan’s agricultural landscape, sectoral challenges, and opportunities to enhance productivity and long-term sustainability. Mr. Rowe reaffirmed Syngenta’s commitment to supporting Pakistan through technology, innovation, and technical expertise, aligned with national priorities for agricultural growth.

During the meeting, the Finance Minister extended an invitation to Mr. Rowe to visit Pakistan during his upcoming regional engagements, reflecting the continued importance of private sector participation in strengthening the country’s agricultural ecosystem. The dialogue further highlighted that Pakistan remains a priority market for Syngenta’s global leadership, with continued engagement across international platforms and forums.

Syngenta Pakistan has remained in focus for the Group’s global leadership team, reflecting the country’s importance within Syngenta’s long-term strategy and continued investment priorities. Syngenta has been a leading player in Pakistan’s crop protection market since 1956, with a manufacturing presence in Karachi, and continues to expand its footprint through innovation and farmer-focused solutions.

Last week at the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) 2026 in Berlin, Ms. Alexandra Brand, Executive Vice President for Sustainability, Corporate Affairs & Transformation, Syngenta Group, met with Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, Mr. Rana Tanveer Hussain. The Syngenta delegation included Ms. Petra Laux, Chief Sustainability Officer, and Ms. Alina Gumpert, Head of Government Affairs in Germany, while the Minister was accompanied by Her Excellency Saqlain Syeda, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Germany.

Discussions at GFFA focused on Syngenta’s continued contribution to Pakistan’s agricultural sector and opportunities to expand collaboration across the agri-value chain. The Minister encouraged further investment, while Ms. Brand reiterated Pakistan’s importance as a business hub and highlighted potential public–private partnerships in farmer training, bio-solutions, and agricultural technologies.

These high-level engagements for the Syngenta Global Leadership team were organized by Syngenta’s local team in Pakistan—Zeeshan Baig, Country General Manager, and Syed Ali Murtaza, Country Head of Corporate Affairs & Sustainability—as a follow-up to a successful dialogue between the Government of Punjab Agriculture Ministry and Syngenta Group China in October, 2025.

Syngenta Group is a global leader in agricultural innovation, the world’s number one crop protection company, and the third largest in seeds, operating in more than 90 countries and dedicated to advancing sustainable agriculture worldwide.
