The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued an alert for snowfall and hailstorms in Peshawar and various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as a westerly wave approaches on Thursday. Continental air currently dominates most parts of Pakistan, but this pattern is expected to change as the westerly wave brings colder temperatures and precipitation to the region.

For Wednesday evening and night in Peshawar and many districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the weather is expected to remain cold and dry. However, Thursday will bring a change in conditions, with partly cloudy skies and a heightened risk of rain, wind, thunderstorms, and snowfall in the hilly areas. Chitral, Dir, Kohistan, Swat, Abbottabad, Manshera, Mardan, Peshawar, Kurrum, and Kohat are the areas most likely to experience these weather events. Isolated hailstorms are also anticipated during this period.
In Peshawar, the minimum temperature is forecasted to range between 5 and 7 degrees Celsius on both Thursday and Friday. Over the past 24 hours, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has experienced cold and dry weather, with Dir recording the lowest temperature at 1 degree Celsius in the province. Peshawar noted a minimum temperature of 6 degrees Celsius, accompanied by a morning relative humidity of 93 percent.
