Australia have announced a provisional 15-member squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, which will be jointly hosted by Sri Lanka and India.
Mitchell Marsh has been named captain, while Pat Cummins, Cameron Green and Cooper Connolly return after missing the recent T20 series against India.
The squad includes Xavier Bartlett, Tim David, Nathan Ellis, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Matthew Kuhnemann, Glenn Maxwell, Matthew Short, Marcus Stoinis and Adam Zampa.
Selectors have opted for a spin-heavy combination, with Adam Zampa joined by Matthew Kuhnemann, Cooper Connolly and all-rounders Glenn Maxwell and Matthew Short.
Australia chair of selectors George Bailey said the focus remained on players suited to conditions expected across venues in Sri Lanka and India.
He said the team’s recent success allowed selectors to choose a balanced group capable of managing different conditions during the tournament.
Bailey added that Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Tim David were progressing well and were expected to be available for the World Cup.

He said the squad remained preliminary, with scope for changes if required before the tournament support period begins.
Selectors chose not to include a left-arm fast bowler following Mitchell Starc’s retirement from the format and an injury to Spencer Johnson.
As a result, right-arm seamer Xavier Bartlett was selected ahead of Ben Dwarshuis as the preferred pace option.
Australia have yet to announce their squad for the three-match T20 series against Pakistan, which is scheduled before the World Cup.
