Caretaker Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Muhammad Azam Khan, passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at the age of 72. He was admitted to the Rehman Medical Institute (RMI) in Peshawar last night with severe chest pains and was in critical condition. He passed away around 10:25 am on Saturday morning.

Khan was a retired bureaucrat with a long and distinguished career in the civil service. He held various positions, including Secretary of the Establishment Division and Chairman of the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC). He was known for his honesty, integrity, and hard work, making him a popular figure in KP.
Governor of KP Ghulam Ali expressed deep grief over Khan’s passing, describing him as a “dedicated and committed public servant” who served the people of KP with “distinction and dedication.” Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also expressed condolences, calling Khan a “person of great integrity and honesty” who served Pakistan with “diligence and sincerity.”
Khan’s funeral prayers will be held at the Governor’s House in Peshawar on Sunday, November 12, 2023. He will be laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard in Abbottabad.
Muhammad Azam Khan’s passing is a significant loss for Pakistan, particularly for the people of KP. His dedication to public service and his commitment to the betterment of society will be remembered for years to come.
