Coordinator General COMSTECH, H. E. Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, called on Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), H.E. Mr. Hissein Barahim Taha, at OIC General Secretariat, in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Prof. Choudhary briefed the Secretary General OIC about the preparations for the 31st Executive Committee Meeting of COMSTECH, which is being held on January 27, 2022, in Islamabad, Pakistan, under the Chair of H.E. Dr. Arif Alvi, President, Islamic Republic of Pakistan/ Chairman COMSTECH.

Secretary General OIC conveyed his appreciation to the Government of Pakistan for generously supporting OIC’s Ministerial Standing Committee for Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH). He assured his complete patronage to COMSTECH which is among the key OIC institutions.

Prof. Choudhary also briefed the Secretary General about the major programs and activities of COMSTECH in African OIC member states including: COMSTECH-IFS research grants to young African scholars, COMSTECH Consortium of Excellence Research/Training and Fellowship Program, COMSTECH Scholarships and Research Fellowships for Women Scientists in least developed countries in Africa, UNESCO-TWAS-COMSTECH Science in Exile Fellowship Programme for displaced and refugee scientists; and Eye camps, neurocritical and dermatology camps along with workshops in Niger, Gambia and other African countries.
