Shammi Jalandhari is a Poet and lyricist from Australia. He was born in Jalandhar an urban city of India. He spent most of his childhood traveling around the country. Shammi has traveled around the country which aroused a desire in him to write about his culture and heritage which led him to become a well-known poet and lyricist. His grandfather was part of the British Army and he was selected to follow the footsteps of his grandfather, But Shammi Jalandhari chose to follow his passion of writing poetry and songs. In 2006 he moved to Australia and started writing poetry about his culture and literature.

Moreover, Shammi first started writing poems that reflected his yearning for home and it helped him to feel close to his roots of culture. When he migrated to Australia it generated a desire in him to express his culture, which he did through his music and writing. Then he started his career as a poet and wrote many books which are the collection of his poetry. Moreover, Shammi also wrote many songs which have been sung by many Indian and Pakistani singers. Shammi has also worked as a lyricist for many singers like Mukhtar Sahota. In addition to this, Shammi published three books of his poetry collection “Watno Door”, “Pehli Barish” and “Ishq Mera Sultan”.
Shammi is the writer of over 150 songs which are performed by various Pakistani and Indian singers. He has also recorded poetry albums for his books like “Ishq Mera Sultan”. His book “Ishq Mera Sultan” was praised by many of his fans and individuals in the Punjabi film industry. Even, though he is living in Australia far away from his homeland but he didn’t stop writing about his heritage and culture. This passion shows his true love for his country India. His work has showcased his poetry talent and served as a cultural ambassador, promoting the richness of literature of Indian and Pakistani globally. He has written many songs in other languages like Punjabi, Urdu and Hindi which are sung by many singers including Mukhtar Sahota. Through his writing, Shammi Jalandhari has successfully promotes the culture of his homeland India.

He is well known for “Ishq Mera Sultan”, “Kamala”, “Jee ni Hunda” and many more. His way of writing is unique and inspire many other famous writers of India and Pakistan. He is the lover of his homeland and always want to express his love about the culture and humanity of his Peoples. He has won many awards for his writing and one of his achievement is that he got “The literature Award 2021” by Guru Kashi sachit Academy. Government of India has decided to add the poetry of Shammi Jalandhari into school studies and universities where students can learn more about poetry and literature. Moreover, Shammi continues his journey of writing more poetries for his country and culture.
