According to SHO Rizvia, Abid Shah, these SIM cards were being used by criminal gangs, including the notorious “White Corolla Afghan Gang,” to facilitate robberies. The suspects, Hamza, Sikandar, and Wazir, were found to be deceiving Pakistani citizens by conducting biometric verification but failing to provide them with active SIM cards.
Hamza admitted to selling over 400 SIM cards to a single Afghan national, Kamran Afghani, who purchased each card for Rs1,200. The police revealed that these SIM cards were being acquired from Afghan borders and were being used by criminal groups to evade detection.
The operation has shed light on the illegal trade of SIM cards in Karachi and the involvement of Afghan nationals in criminal activities. Police are now working to identify and apprehend the Afghan nationals who purchased these SIM cards and are also investigating the citizens whose names were used to obtain them.
The arrest of the three suspects marks a significant step in dismantling this illegal network and disrupting the activities of criminal gangs operating in the city.
