The embassy has asked all Saudi citizens and those who are visiting Pakistan to take caution and not go out unless necessary. In the event of any emergency, the embassy said that Saudis could contact them on their phone number: 0092512600900; or via the Saudis affairs number: 0033156794001; or through the embassy’s number in Karachi: 00923018555284.

The Australian high commissioner in Islamabad also said officials had been advised to limit travel and increase vigilance within the city. “You should exercise heightened monitor and vigilance of the media for the latest updates,” the Australian high commissioner said on Twitter.

On Sunday, the United States (US) embassy in Islamabad said it was aware of information that “unidentified individuals are possibly plotting to attack Americans at the Marriott Hotel in Islamabad sometime during the holidays.”

This information comes amid a general increase in security concerns within Pakistan. The government of Pakistan recently established a new counter-terrorism department in an effort to combat the growing threat of militancy. Authorities have not yet commented on the specific security advisories issued by the United States, Australia, and Saudi Arabia.
