Officials at SNGPL said the company began receiving requests immediately after the restriction was removed, creating operational pressure due to the sheer volume of applications submitted.

The federal petroleum minister had announced the end of the years-long ban last year, allowing households to apply for new gas connections across the country.

SNGPL stated that around 400,000 applications were received under the fast-track category alone, while nearly 300,000 consumers submitted requests through the normal merit-based process.

Processing such a large number of applications simultaneously has posed a significant challenge, according to company officials, who said operational teams are working to manage the demand efficiently.

Under the fast-track scheme, SNGPL has installed about 29,000 new connections and processed approximately 36,000 conversion cases, providing a total of 64,000 new RLNG-based connections since the ban was lifted.
