A fresh shipment of compact electric vehicles (EVs) has been sighted at Karachi Port, fueling speculation of a new entrant in Pakistan’s auto market.

CCTV footage from a local yard shows multiple small hatchbacks parked alongside an MG ZS EV, hinting at an upcoming launch under the same group. The vehicle has been identified as the Wuling Binguo EV, a subcompact hatchback by Wuling Motors, part of the SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture that also manages the MG brand in Pakistan.
The Binguo EV has seen strong traction globally, capturing nearly six percent of China’s battery-electric vehicle market this year. It has also been officially rolled out in Indonesia, further extending Chinese automakers’ footprint in Southeast Asia’s rapidly growing EV sector.
If introduced locally, the Wuling Binguo EV could mark another milestone in Pakistan’s slow but steady shift towards electrification, expanding the lineup of affordable EV options in the country. The development also underscores the growing presence of Chinese-made EVs in the local market.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s EV segment continues to see activity. Just last month, Ghandhara Automobiles Limited confirmed plans to launch the JAC T9 plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) in 2026. The company has already received the JAC T9 2WD variant, expected to reach customers within weeks. Industry analysts expect the T9 PHEV to compete with regional hybrid pickups such as the BYD Shark 6, potentially becoming one of Pakistan’s first locally assembled PHEV trucks.
However, industry insiders note that specifications, pricing, and localization details for both models remain under wraps, leaving space for speculation within Pakistan’s automotive community.
