Pakistan car sales slipped 4.2% month on month in September 2026 to 14,406 units, compared with 15,031 units in August, according to data from the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA).
Despite the monthly dip, the overall trend remains strong. Passenger car sales in the first quarter of FY27 (July-September) were up 43% from a year earlier, while production rose 32%.
Pakistan car sales by brand
Suzuki saw the biggest fall. Alto sales dropped 37.2% to 3,354 units, Swift fell 41.7% to 858 and Cultus slid 53.4% to 138. Fronx sales also declined to 60 units, while the Every van rose 10.4% to 458.
Toyota moved the other way. Sales of the Corolla, Yaris and Corolla Cross rose 15.7% to 3,563 units, while the Fortuner and IMV range fell to 579.
Honda City and Civic sales eased 20.8% to 2,021 units, but the BR-V and HR-V rose to 107. Hyundai’s Elantra climbed to 494 units and Tucson sales jumped to 51. Haval and Tank reported 2,474 units, while Jetour sold 141.
Hybrids and policy in focus
Confusion over sales tax had delayed invoicing of hybrid vehicles, an issue that was cleared in September and helped Toyota’s numbers. PAMA linked the wider improvement this year to easing inflation and a better economic environment.
However, the new automobile policy is still pending, which has kept both manufacturers and buyers cautious. The government has indicated that approval could come soon after a Senate committee meeting held on October 7.
