The Bitcoin price held near $82,000 on Friday, trading at about $82,240 and up 0.7% over 24 hours, after briefly dipping to around $80,000 as hotter-than-expected US inflation data rattled markets.
Bitcoin price and Ethereum
Bitcoin recovered from the $80,000 level but has yet to break clearly above short-term resistance around $82,500. Ether rose about 0.9% to roughly $2,442. The Crypto Fear and Greed Index climbed to 63 from 53, pointing to improving sentiment.
US inflation and markets
US producer prices rose 6.3% year on year in September, the highest in more than four years and well above the 5.3% expected, driven partly by a 10.8% jump in energy prices. Retail sales rose 0.8% in the month and weekly jobless claims came in at 199,000, both stronger than forecast.
US stocks closed higher, with the Nasdaq up 0.88%, the S&P 500 up 0.33% and the Dow up more than 1%.
Regulatory moves
The US Office of the Comptroller of the Currency said final rules under the GENIUS Act on stablecoins will be released by the end of October, while Russia plans to ban direct peer-to-peer crypto transactions between individuals from July 2027.
