Pakistan’s Noor Zaman pulled off a major upset at the PSA Gold Silicon Valley Open, beating Egyptian star Karim Abdel Gawad 11-9, 11-7, 9-11, 11-6 in 52 minutes.
The $143,500 event is one of the bigger tournaments on the Professional Squash Association calendar, and the win is one of the best of the young Pakistani’s career.
Noor Zaman’s rise
The 22-year-old is the grandson of squash great Qamar Zaman. He won the U-23 world title in 2025 and has already collected five PSA titles.
He took the first two games, dropped the third and then closed out the match in the fourth.

In another match, Pakistan’s Ashab Irfan lost to Egypt’s Mohamed ElShorbagy, leaving Noor Zaman as the country’s main hope in the tournament.
