Considering this, AlBaraka Forum for Islamic Economy is organizing the sixth edition of its Regional Conference Series, titled “Islamic Economy in the Digital Age: Innovation within the Framework of Compliance.”

The conference is set to welcome H.E. Mr. Jameel Ahmad, Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, as Chief Guest, delivering a keynote address during the opening ceremony.

This gathering comes at a pivotal moment, as Pakistan’s financial sector navigates the convergence of Shariah-compliant economic principles with emerging digital financial infrastructures, fintech solutions, and data-driven economic models.

Sharing his thoughts on the conference, H.E. Mr. Yousef Hassan Khalawi, Secretary General of AlBaraka Forum, stated: “What we are seeing in Pakistan is a shift from growth in Islamic finance to testing its ability to operate within a fully digital economy. Success here depends not only on technology, but on governance, regulation, and the role of scholars in guiding innovation. This positions Pakistan as an important reference point for the future of Islamic economy in Asia.”

H.E. Mr. Khalawi added: “With a young and increasingly digital-native population, Pakistan represents a real-world environment where questions around Shariah compliance, digital finance, and economic effectiveness must be addressed together. This conference aims to provide a structured platform for advancing that dialogue and translating principles into workable economic solutions.”

As more individuals engage with complex financial decisions across both conventional and Islamic systems, the conference seeks to act as a unifying and guiding platform bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, scholars, and experts from across the region to examine pathways for developing Shariah-compliant economic frameworks that deliver meaningful and sustainable economic outcomes.

The two-day conference is set to take place at Pearl Continental Hotel, Karachi, on the 19th and 20th of January, 2026, with registration available through the conference’s official website: https://6th-regional-conference.albaraka.site/
