Reports claim Bangladesh will lose 325 million taka if it decides not to participate in the upcoming T20 World Cup scheduled in India this year.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board could reportedly lose about sixty percent of its annual revenue, including broadcast rights and sponsorship income if the boycott proceeds accordingly.

Indian media said Bangladeshi players were reportedly willing to play, but Sports Advisor Dr Asif Nazrul decided against participation due to prevailing security concerns in India.

Bangladesh previously chose not to travel to India over security fears, citing the inability of authorities to ensure a safe environment for players during matches.

The boycott may also jeopardize future bilateral series against India, which are scheduled this year, according to media reports covering cricket developments in both countries.

Asif Nazrul confirmed that Bangladesh will not travel to India, following the ICC’s rejection of their request to relocate matches to Sri Lanka instead.

He added that while BCB will continue pursuing a change of venue with the ICC, no alternative exists due to India’s current security situation remaining unsafe.
