Eyewitnesses reported seeing smoke billowing from the building as hotel staff and emergency responders swiftly evacuated guests. Firefighters brought the flames under control within an hour, preventing major structural damage. No serious injuries were reported, though some guests suffered minor smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, with initial reports suggesting an electrical short circuit as the possible trigger. The hotel management assured full cooperation with authorities and stated that alternative accommodations were being arranged for affected guests.
Despite the disruption, PSL officials confirmed that the match would proceed as planned, with teams departing after a brief delay. The incident, however, raised concerns over safety protocols at high-profile venues hosting international events.
Serena Hotel, a luxury establishment frequented by diplomats and celebrities, has temporarily suspended bookings as inspections continue. Authorities have urged all major hotels in the city to review their fire safety measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
