The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) on Wednesday demolished and sealed several properties during an operation against illegal constructions and commercial activities across the city.

Additional Director General Housing retired Capt Shah Mir Iqbal got encroachments removed from more than 100 shops and properties from Shadiwal Chowk to Khokhar Chowk, for widening the main road for the smooth flow of traffic.
During the operation against illegal commercial activities, the Town Planning wing staffsealed 40 properties. LDA Director General/Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa said the operations would continue in the city.
During the operations, stalls, sheds, temporary and permanent infrastructures built in front of the shops were also demolished.
These encroachments had been illegally occupying land since long in front of private banks, commercial stores, grocery shops, saloons, food points, tea shops, marble stores, sanitary stores, Boards and hoardings were also demolished on the main road from Shadiwal Chowk to Khokhar Chowk.

The staff of LDA Town Planning VII and IV sealed more than 40 properties in the vicinity of BOR Society, Johar Town and Ferozepur Road for illegal commercial activities.The sealed properties included a bakery, general store, property office, beauty parlour, workshops, showroom, furniture shops, clinic, grocery store, milk shops etc.
Besides this, some under-construction illegal structures on Defense Road and Ferozepur Road were also demolished. Property No 7-1 D 1 in Quaid-e-Azam Town was sealed for illegal commercial use despite multiple notices served to the owners. Chief town planner II, director housing VII, directors town planning IV and VII were also present during the operations.
Earlier, Mr Randhawa inspected different development project sites and directed the officials that no tree should be removed during construction of Khalid Butt underpass and Ghora Chowk flyover.
He also directed them to ensure smooth traffic during the completion of the projects, while he was briefed that around 66 percent of Bedian Road underpass was completed. He said all available resources should be used to complete the project within the dead-line.
LWMC: The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) on Wednesday launched an operation to combat illegal dumping and foster zero-waste practices in the vicinity of the Expo Centre. A task force consisting of eight Foton trucks, two loaders, four dumpers, and a workforce exceed-ing 100 people is working to attain these essential objectives.
As part of the Special Cleanliness Operation, the Expo Centre`s vicinity has undergone comprehensive scraping and sweeping activities. Simultaneously, LWMC`s enforcement wing is cracking down on illegal dumping in the surrounding areas of Johar Town. Up to seven FIRs have been registered related to illegal garbage disposal in the vicinity of the Expo Centre.
LWMC`s spokesperson Umar Chaudhry said that the special cleaning operation spanned a broad area, including Expo Centre link roads, Ayub Chowk, Khokhar Chowk, Rasulpura, and adjacent roads.
The cleaning operations are making significant strides in nine towns across Lahore, with LWMC workers and officers engaged in the field. The LWMC said that in the event of any concerns, such as the non-attendance of cleaning vehicles or staff, or other cleanliness-related issues, citizens are encouraged to reach out through the LWMC helpline at 1139 or via social media.
