According to sources within the Ministry of IT, the AI Readiness Assessment will be a key component of the implementation of the National AI Policy. The assessment will provide a comprehensive review of the country’s digital infrastructure, data availability, and overall technological capacity to support AI-driven initiatives.
Sources said the review will also include an in-depth analysis of the existing regulatory framework and the country’s cyber security capabilities to ensure safe and responsible use of artificial intelligence. Institutional readiness across both the public and private sectors will be assessed as part of the exercise.
Key sectors such as education, healthcare, and agriculture will be included in the AI readiness review, given their potential for AI-led transformation. Provincial governments and relevant regulators will provide data to support the assessment process.
In addition, input and recommendations will be sought from academia, startups, and technology companies to ensure a broad-based and inclusive evaluation. Based on the findings of the AI Readiness Assessment, sector-wise action plans will be developed.
Sources said the assessment will help identify investment priorities and capacity-building needs, while aligning Pakistan’s AI development efforts with global standards. The outcomes will also guide skills development programs and the direction of research and innovation funding in the field of artificial intelligence.
