An FIR has been registered under:

  • Section 21-1(d) of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016, addressing electronic harassment.
  • Section 509 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), for insulting the modesty of women.
  • Section 354 of the PPC, which pertains to assault or criminal force against women.

These charges reflect the gravity of the crimes, with authorities pledging a comprehensive investigation and stringent legal action against those involved.

The revelations have sparked widespread outrage among local residents and women’s rights activists. Many are calling for enhanced measures to protect women’s privacy in public spaces, particularly in retail outlets that provide trial rooms.

“This incident is a gross violation of women’s dignity and safety,” said a local activist. “It’s not just about one store—it’s a wake-up call for all businesses to prioritize customer security and privacy.”

Limelight, one of Pakistan’s leading clothing brands, has come under intense criticism for failing to ensure customer safety. The company’s silence on the issue has only added to public frustration. Calls are mounting for Limelight to conduct an internal review of its policies, improve security protocols, and ensure accountability for any lapses at its outlets.

This incident sheds light on a broader issue: the lack of stringent regulations to protect privacy in public and commercial spaces. Advocacy groups are urging the government to strengthen laws and conduct random inspections to prevent such heinous acts in the future.

As the investigation unfolds, the public demands swift justice for the victims and stronger safeguards to ensure that such incidents are never repeated. The case serves as a grim reminder of the urgent need for systemic reforms to protect women’s rights and dignity in Pakistan.
