Faisal Movers Banned from Motorways Amid Safety Concerns

Date:

In a decisive effort to enhance road safety, the Pakistani government has banned Faisal Movers buses from operating on motorways nationwide. The move comes after repeated accidents involving the company, most recently a devastating crash near Attock, which claimed 10 lives and injured 22 others.

The government has directed the National Highway and Motorway Police (NH&MP) to enforce the ban strictly. Authorities have emphasized that the prohibition will remain until Faisal Movers demonstrates substantial improvements in safety measures, including mandatory driver training, regular vehicle inspections, and strict adherence to speed limits.

Adding to the scrutiny is Sania Express, a sister concern of Faisal Movers, which also operates on motorways. Critics argue that the National Highway Authority (NHA) must impose a similar ban on Sania Express to ensure uniform safety standards. Without such action, there is a risk of potential loopholes undermining the government’s efforts to enforce road safety and protect passengers. Comprehensive compliance across all related entities is essential to prevent further tragedies and maintain public trust.

This ban has been welcomed by many as a step toward prioritizing passenger safety, especially on Pakistan’s busy motorways. However, it has also raised concerns about the disruption of intercity travel and the economic impact on employees reliant on the company for their livelihood.

Transportation experts believe the ban sends a strong signal to all bus operators about the importance of adhering to safety protocols. It underscores the government’s commitment to curbing the alarming rise in road accidents and fostering safer travel conditions for passengers.

The ban is a wake-up call for the transport industry in Pakistan, emphasizing that passenger safety must take precedence over operational convenience or profit margins.
