Pakistan Beat Sri Lanka by 82 Runs, Seal T20I Series

Date:

Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by 82 runs in the second T20I at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Sunday to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series, according to reports.

Maaz Sadaqat Falls Four Short of a Century

Pakistan posted 215-3, which is their highest T20I total on home soil. Maaz Sadaqat was named player of the match for 96 off 51 balls, with six fours and seven sixes, falling just short of a maiden T20I hundred. He reached his fifty off 29 balls after being dropped on 44.

Captain Sahibzada Farhan added 73 off 44 balls, and the pair put on 88 for the second wicket. Farhan was celebrating his first series win as captain.

Randhawa Leads the Bowling Effort

Sri Lanka finished on 133-7. Imran Randhawa took 3 for 11 in his four overs, removing Sineth Jayawardena, Kusal Mendis and Sahan Arachchige, while Salman Mirza took two wickets including Lahiru Udara in the first over. A seventh-wicket stand of 50 between Chamindu Wickramasinghe and Maheesh Theekshana was Sri Lanka’s best resistance.

Pakistan had also won the opening match on Friday. The third and final T20I is scheduled for Tuesday, and with the series already decided, it gives the home side a chance to test more combinations.
