The Pakistan Army has conducted a successful test launch of the extended-range version of its Fatah-2 missile, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Tuesday.
Fatah-2 missile features
According to ISPR, the weapon system uses advanced navigation technology and state-of-the-art avionics to support targeting, and offers high-precision strike capability. It has a distinctive trajectory and manoeuvrability that, ISPR said, would help it penetrate enemy missile defence systems, while the extended range increases the Army’s reach deeper into an adversary’s territory.
ISPR did not disclose the exact range, the distance covered in the test or when the system will enter service.
Who witnessed the launch
The test was witnessed by the Commander of the Army Rocket Force Command, senior Army officers, and the scientists and engineers involved in developing the system. The commander praised their dedication and technical expertise.
President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, and the services chiefs congratulated the scientists and engineers on the successful test.
