Police Senior Superintendent Jawad Tariq confirmed the injuries and revealed that the explosive material was hidden within the garbage dump. He further explained that the children, unaware of the danger, were sorting through the refuse when the blast occurred.

While the type of explosive remains under investigation, SSP Tariq emphasized that this was not a security lapse. He reassured the public, stating, “Foolproof security arrangements have been made with regards to the elections.”

The injured were swiftly transported to Civil Hospital by medical personnel. Dr. Arbab Kamran, head of the Quetta Trauma Centre, shared that two individuals are in critical condition.

This follows two other concerning security incidents in the region. On Tuesday, a PPP candidate miraculously survived a grenade attack at his residence. On Monday, unknown men targeted a polling staff training session at a school in Kharan.

These events cast a shadow of unease over the upcoming elections. While authorities reassure the public of enhanced security measures, the safety of individuals caught in the crossfire remains a paramount concern.
