Samsung’s highly anticipated Galaxy Z Fold 7 is dominating tech headlines and trending on Google following its official unveiling at the Galaxy Unpacked event in Brooklyn, New York. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 arrives as the thinnest and lightest device in the Z Fold series to date, measuring a mere 4.2mm when unfolded and 8.9mm when folded. At just 215 grams, it’s even lighter than the Galaxy S25 Ultra, addressing a key user request for improved portability in foldable phones. This sleek design is complemented by a new Armor FlexHinge crafted from Grade 4 Titanium Lattice, aimed at reducing the visible crease and enhancing durability. The device also boasts a robust build with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the back and Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 on the front.

A major highlight is the upgraded camera system, featuring a 200MP main camera sensor with 2x optical quality zoom, a significant leap from previous models. This is paired with a 10MP 3x telephoto lens and a 12MP ultrawide camera, offering a versatile photography experience. The dual 10MP front-facing cameras (one on each screen) further enhance selfie and video call capabilities.

Under the hood, the Z Fold 7 is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy SoC, coupled with up to 16GB of RAM and storage options up to 1TB. This powerful combination is designed to deliver top-tier performance for demanding applications and complex AI tasks.

Speaking of AI, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 puts intelligence at the forefront with Android 16-based OneUI 8, deeply integrating a suite of Galaxy AI tools. Features like Photo Assist allow for precise object manipulation, angle adjustments, and background filling in photos, while an upgraded Generative Edit can automatically remove passersby. Audio Eraser has also been enhanced to remove background noise from videos and recordings.

However, one change that has generated buzz is the removal of S Pen support from the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Samsung attributes this decision to the pursuit of a thinner and more durable device, citing that the digitizer required for S Pen functionality adds thickness. The company also suggested that S Pen usage on previous Fold generations was not as widespread as anticipated.

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is available for pre-order starting today, July 9, with general availability commencing on July 25. Pricing for the device starts at $1,999.99 (approximately PKR 566,690) for the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant, with higher configurations reaching up to ₹2,10,999 (approximately PKR 597,940) for the 16GB + 1TB model. It will be available in Blue Shadow, Jet Black, Silver Shadow, and an online-exclusive Mint color.

The launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 7, alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and the more affordable Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, underscores Samsung’s continued commitment to the foldable market and its vision for AI-powered mobile experiences.
