Hosted at the KIU the discussion was attended by the University’s faculty and student. Chief Guests at the occasion were Mrs. Marina Begum, President of the Women’s Chamber of Commerce, Gilgit, and Mrs. Azra Amir, Vice-President of the Women’s Chamber of Commerce, Gilgit. They were joined by other esteemed participants from diverse backgrounds who highlighted the importance of menstrual health advocacy in society.

Period poverty refers to the prevailing situation in societies where lack of access to products such as pads, tampons, or liners to manage menstrual bleeding, forces women to use items like rags, paper towels, toilet paper, or cardboard. It also encompasses no toilets, no means of waste disposal and no hand washing facilities.

At the end of the program, Ms. Erum Adnan, Lead CSR & Corp Comm, Santex Products announced the Company’s expansion of it’s outreach program to Gilgit, Baltistan. The Company will help to facilitate KIU in making their campus and hostel period-friendly by providing them with sanitary napkin dispensers and promoting open dialogue on menstrual hygiene. The seminar, attended by over 500 students, was the most recent in ongoing activities to foster inclusive spaces all over Pakistan.
