The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has arrested a 33-year-old man from Khanewal in Lahore in a US Postal Service fraud case involving the online sale of more than five million counterfeit postage labels.
US prosecutors in the Southern District of Florida say the scheme caused more than $126 million in losses to the US Postal Service.
How the US Postal Service Fraud Worked
According to NCCIA Lahore Zone Additional Director Atif Ameer, the suspect ran a website called LabelsBank.com from August 2023 to September 2026, selling fake US postage labels for about $2 each.
Based on the volume of sales, the agency estimates the total value of the transactions at around Rs35 billion.
16 Bank Accounts Under Scrutiny
Investigators say 16 bank accounts were used to receive and move the money. Seven were operated by the suspect, five by his brother, two by his wife, and one each by his sister and aunt. The role of family members is now part of the probe.
Inside the NCCIA Manhunt
Eight special teams were formed in Punjab, Islamabad and Sindh. They raided 35 locations, questioned 47 people, and analysed 122 call-data records, 50 IMEI-tracking reports and footage from 120 cameras. AI tools were also used during a 10-day operation to trace the suspect’s movements.
What Happens Next
The NCCIA says it is still working to verify the full scale of the operation, follow the money trail and identify anyone else who helped run the website, process orders or handle payments.
