As per the FDE notification, all educational institutions under its jurisdiction will observe winter vacations from December 25 to December 29, taking advantage of the weekend on December 30 and 31. Academic activities are scheduled to resume on January 1, 2024.

In addition to the vacation announcement, the FDE had previously adjusted operating hours for schools and colleges across urban and rural areas of Islamabad due to the declining temperatures.

According to the revised schedule, effective until January 31, 2024, single-shift institutes will operate from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm from Monday to Thursday, with an early closure at 12:30 pm every Friday.

For double-shift institutes, the morning session is scheduled from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm from Monday to Thursday, concluding at 12:30 pm on Fridays. The evening shift will run from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm from Monday to Thursday, with the second shift starting at 2:30 pm on Fridays. These adjustments aim to accommodate the changing weather conditions and ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff during the winter season.
