ChatGPT ads are coming to Pakistan, as OpenAI expands advertising on its AI chatbot to 26 more countries, taking the total to 89.
OpenAI announced the expansion on Wednesday as it builds up its advertising business to grow revenue ahead of a possible initial public offering.
How ChatGPT Ads Will Work in Pakistan
- Ads will appear only on the Free and Go plans.
- Plus, Pro and Enterprise subscribers will stay ad-free.
- Businesses can buy ads through technology partners or with self-service access through OpenAI’s Ads Manager.
OpenAI’s Fast-Growing Ad Business
OpenAI began testing ads in the US earlier this year. More than 100,000 advertisers have since run campaigns on the platform, and the company said in August that its ads business had reached an annualised revenue run rate of $1 billion. In September, it introduced AI-powered tools for advertisers and began testing sponsored business agents with select US advertisers.
Other New Markets
The latest rollout adds 14 Latin American countries, including Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Peru, after earlier launches in Mexico and Brazil. Markets across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia are also included, among them Nigeria, South Africa, Serbia, Ukraine, Cambodia and Bangladesh.
What It Means for Pakistan
For Pakistani users on the free plan, sponsored content may start appearing alongside answers. For local brands and digital agencies, it opens a new way to reach the millions of people who use ChatGPT for search, study and work.
