Imran Khan Taken to PIMS for Minor Procedure

Date:

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar confirmed that former Prime Minister Imran Khan was briefly taken to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences amid medical concerns.

Speaking exclusively to Geo News, Tarar said eye specialists examined Khan at Adiala Jail and advised that he be shifted to PIMS for further assessment and treatment.

Acting on the doctors’ recommendations, the former premier was taken to the hospital on Saturday night to undergo a minor medical procedure on his eyes.

At PIMS, doctors examined Khan again and, after obtaining his written consent, carried out a procedure lasting around 20 minutes before he was returned to Adiala Jail.

The minister stressed that Khan’s vital signs remained stable throughout the procedure and that his overall health was satisfactory, adding that he is absolutely healthy and well.

Tarar rejected rumours circulating on social media suggesting the former premier’s condition was serious, emphasising that the hospital visit was solely for a minor eye-related issue.

His statement followed concerns raised by PTI chairman Barrister Gohar Khan, who demanded that party members and family be allowed to meet the former prime minister immediately.

Local media had reported that Khan underwent a procedure for an eye ailment at PIMS under tight security and was returned to jail the next day after treatment.
