Festival Comeback After Years
The revival of Basant has created a buzz throughout Lahore, with street markets — especially around Mochi Gate, Islampura, and Sanda — crowded with enthusiastic buyers and sellers. New registration rules and safety regulations have been put in place ahead of the city’s celebration from February 6–8.
Local traders and residents say the festival’s return after nearly two decades is a welcome boost for businesses and cultural spirit. Despite higher prices due to strong demand, many families and youth are embracing the festive mood and making purchases in anticipation of Basant festivities.
Authorities have also allowed the manufacturing of kite-flying materials in additional districts such as Faisalabad, Kasur, Multan, and Sheikhupura to help meet rising demand ahead of the celebration.
