The government has increased the petrol price by Re0.88 per litre for Wednesday, October 21, taking it to Rs382.02, while high-speed diesel has gone up by Re0.53 to Rs389.80 per litre.
The new rates were notified by the Petroleum Division and apply for one day under the daily pricing system now in place.
New Petrol Price and Diesel Rate
- Petrol: Rs382.02 per litre (up Re0.88)
- High-speed diesel: Rs389.80 per litre (up Re0.53)
The government continues to collect about Rs114 per litre in taxes and duties on petrol and Rs100 per litre on diesel.
Why Fuel Prices Now Change Daily
Since July, OGRA has been setting fuel prices every day in line with international market trends, after renewed hostilities between Iran and the United States made global oil prices volatile. Before that, prices were revised weekly from early March.
Prices are still well below their peak. Petrol touched Rs458.41 and diesel Rs520.35 per litre on April 3, weeks after the war began on February 28.
What It Means for Consumers
Petrol is used mainly by motorcycles, rickshaws and small cars, so even small daily changes hit middle and lower-middle income families. Diesel prices feed into freight, transport fares and food costs.
Austerity measures remain in place, including a 9pm market closing time and a 50% cut in fuel allocation for official vehicles. Check the latest daily rates on our petrol price in Pakistan today page.
