Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has formally launched development work under the flagship programme Maryam Nawaz Ka Sohna Punjab in 51 cities across the province.

Chairing a special meeting, she directed authorities to complete the first phase by June 2026, with a focus on sewerage systems and core urban infrastructure.
The chief minister assumed direct oversight of the Punjab Development Plan, while provincial and district-level control rooms are being set up to monitor progress and address public complaints.
Under the plan, 5,887 kilometres of sewerage lines and 181 drainage lines will be constructed, along with the installation of more than 33,000 manhole covers, while production of HDPE sewerage pipes is underway.
Deputy commissioners briefed the chief minister on city-specific projects, including sewerage and road development in Multan, a major development package for Gujranwala, and sewerage and drainage works worth over Rs12 billion in Dera Ghazi Khan.
Sanitation, parks and solar-powered disposal stations are planned in Bhakkar, while projects are also underway in Vehari, Sheikhupura and Kasur.
The chief minister directed immediate improvements in cleanliness and sanitation in Sheikhupura and Pattoki, praised the revamping of Kasur DHQ Hospital, and stressed that development should reach every street and neighbourhood.
Meanwhile, under her leadership, normal life was restored in Murree after nearly 30 hours of heavy snowfall, with authorities clearing 185 kilometres of roads to resume traffic and tourism.
Separately, Maryam Nawaz expressed grief over a road accident in Daska that killed five people, including children, and offered condolences to the affected families.
