With the official debut of the Changan Oshan X7 SUV in Pakistan, the midsize SUV category in Pakistan has welcomed a newcomer. This is Pakistan’s first global unveiling of a Right Hand Drive (RHD) vehicle, marking an important milestone for the country’s auto industry. The unveiling of the Oshan X7 was also aired live on social media, as is customary in the post-COVID environment, and was hosted by Danial Malik, CEO of Master Changan Motors Limited (MCML).

The Oshan X7 is a midsize crossover SUV that competes with the Kia Sorento, Toyota Fortuner, and Haval H6 in the midsize crossover SUV segment. It is a newer model that will most likely outperform its competition in terms of features and value for money. Changan’s new models, like the Oshan X7 SUV, are among the most attractive automobiles on the road today. A huge, gaping mesh-patterned front grille, a set of sleek LED headlights and Daytime Running Lights (DRLs), a sporty front bumper, and a simple, yet smooth hood design are all featured on the front.

With a few character lines running the length of the vehicle, a high shoulder line, and a pair of 19-inch alloy wheels, the side profile is similar to that of most crossover SUVs. Most crossovers have a similar back end. A big, Audi-style lightbar spans the SUV’s back, along with a silver strip and a hefty rear bumper with dual exhaust cutouts. Overall, the Oshan X7 has a style that is both intimidating and understated. The interior of the Oshan X7 is extremely clean and minimalistic. Smooth lines and creases decorate up-market materials like leather, piano black panelling, and soft-touch materials, giving the cabin a sophisticated and dignified appearance.

The Oshan X7 is a D-segment crossover SUV with a roomy interior that can easily accommodate up to seven passengers (in comfort variant only). Overall, the Oshan X7 has a fantastic interior that is both modern and attractive while also being functional. There will be two versions of the new Changan Oshan X7. Changan’s latest 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine produces 185 horsepower (hp) and 300 Newton-meter (Nm) of torque in both models. With a 7-speed DCT automatic transmission, all power is sent to the front wheels.

It has McPherson struts in the front and multi-link coil springs in the rear. It also has disc brakes on all four wheels, as well as an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), and Brake Assist (BA) system for good stopping power. The Oshan X7’s fuel consumption is still unknown, however the company believes it is remarkably good.

Price and Availability: MCML has priced the Oshan X7 surprisingly low compared to its competitors. The prices of both Oshan X7 variants are as follows:

  • Oshan X7 Comfort — Rs. 5,750,000
  • Oshan X7 FutureSense — Rs. 5,950,000

Changan Oshan X7 bookings and test drives start from 7th March and deliveries are slated to begin in April. The price of the Oshan X7 will almost certainly give it a significant advantage over its competition. Despite the fact that it is a large and functional vehicle, it is priced similarly to a Kia Sportage. All of the aforementioned characteristics make it a formidable threat, not only to midsize SUVs but also to high-end compact SUVs.
