Winter Wallops Pakistan: Rain, Snow & Fog Forecast

Brace yourself, Pakistan! Winter is about to kick in with a vengeance, bringing rain and snow to many regions from January 25th to 28th. The Met Department predicts that Gilgit Baltistan, Kashmir, and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will get their share of chilly precipitation, while Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and upper Sindh will battle persistent fog and smog.

For those yearning for a sprinkle, Balochistan can rejoice as Nokundi, Dalbandin, Quetta, and numerous other locations are on the rain list. Punjab’s parched plains will also see showers in Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Lahore, and beyond. Even Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Galyat region and Sindh’s Karachi can expect some wet relief.

But hold on, this isn’t just a welcome sprinkle. The prolonged dry spell has unfortunately taken its toll, leading to a surge in weather-related illnesses. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa reported thousands of influenza cases, with Peshawar hit especially hard. Similarly, pneumonia cases in Punjab have claimed dozens of children’s lives.

So, while you’re pulling out your raincoats and snow boots, remember to stay vigilant about your health. Keep warm, wash your hands regularly, and watch out for flu symptoms. While the rain and snow may bring challenges, let’s hope they also wash away the grip of disease. Stay bundled up, Pakistan, and weather the storm, because spring sunshine is just around the corner.
