Judicial Magistrate Naeem Wattoo presided over the proceedings, framing charges against the defendants. All accused entered pleas of not guilty, and the court has summoned prosecution witnesses on February 23 to begin formal testimony.
Background: Gambling App Allegations
The case was registered by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), which alleges that Rehman and others used their influence on platforms like YouTube to promote online gambling and betting applications that are illegal and have caused financial harm to users.
Rehman, one of Pakistan’s most-followed content creators with millions of subscribers, was arrested on August 17, 2025, at Lahore Airport when immigration authorities stopped him from leaving the country after placing his name on the Provisional National Identification List (PNIL) as part of the ongoing investigation.
The FIR includes charges under various sections of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), 2016, and the Pakistan Penal Code, including allegations of electronic forgery, fraud, spamming, spoofing, and cheating.
Legal Proceedings So Far
Earlier in the case, Rehman was granted bail by the Lahore High Court in November 2025, allowing his release from custody under surety bonds.
Separately, Rehman has made public claims alleging mistreatment and abuse by NCCIA officials during his detention, which sparked controversy and online discussion.
The indictment marks a new phase in the legal process. With prosecution witnesses due later this month, the case is expected to move forward with witness testimony and further court hearings.
