Pakistan Services Exports Jump 29% in July-August

Pakistan’s services exports rose 28.89 percent year-on-year to $1.81 billion in the first two months of the fiscal year 2026-27, up from $1.41 billion in the same period last year, according to data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics and the State Bank of Pakistan, as reported by Dawn.

In August alone, services exports climbed 28.97 percent to $873.01 million, compared with $676.91 million a year earlier.

Telecommunications and IT services, the largest segment, grew 17.36 percent to $811 million from $691 million. Business services exports surged 38.62 percent to $420 million from $303 million, while transport services rose 35.87 percent to $178 million from $131 million.

Travel services recorded the sharpest increase, jumping 146.66 percent to $222 million from $90 million in July-August last year.

Services imports also rose, but at a slower pace. They increased 9.77 percent to $2.37 billion from $2.16 billion, while August imports edged up 2.53 percent to $1.15 billion. Based on the reported figures, the gap between services imports and exports narrowed to roughly $560 million in July-August, from about $750 million a year earlier.
