An agreement to establish Smart Safe Cities in 98 tehsils across Punjab has been signed under the direction of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
The signing ceremony was held at the Central Police Office, where officials from Punjab Police, Safe Cities Authority, and the National Telecommunication Corporation attended.
Brigadier Azmat Shabbir of NRTC and Safe Cities Authority Managing Director Muhammad Ahsan Younis signed the agreement to complete the project by December 31, 2026.
Punjab IG Dr Usman Anwar, Safe Cities COO Captain retired Mustansar Feroz, CPLO Abdullah Ahmed, SSP Safe City Muhammad Afzal, and other officials attended.
Senior NRTC officials present included Brigadier retired Zahid Metla, Brigadier retired Shahid Manzoor, General Manager Syed Amir Javed, and Project Director Brigadier retired Muzaffar Ahmed.
Punjab Vows Safer Roads With AI Driving Tests
According to Safe City Managing Director Ahsan Younis, Phase One has been completed in 18 cities under the Smart Safe Cities project.
The completed cities include Multan, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Jhelum, Attock, Sargodha, and Dera Ghazi Khan, as confirmed at the ceremony by officials present.
Phase Two will see Smart Safe Cities completed in 19 additional cities, with work scheduled to conclude by March 31, 2026, accordingly.
Punjab IG Dr Usman Anwar said tehsil-level Safe City projects, directed by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, enhance security and make Punjab a safer province.
