Government Reaction & Concerns
Lawmakers expressed concern that such large numbers of deportations could damage Pakistan’s reputation overseas and reflect broader issues of illegal migration, overstays, and lack of legal awareness among workers and travellers. The National Assembly called for stronger pre-departure screening, awareness campaigns, and stricter enforcement of travel laws to prevent future violations.
Officials reiterated that overseas employment is a lifeline for many Pakistani families, but stressed that respect for host-country laws and proper documentation is essential to protect migrants and national image.
The government also highlighted ongoing efforts to collaborate with Gulf authorities to address legal issues and ensure the dignity and safety of Pakistani workers abroad.
