Nishat Group has joined forces with Chery Auto to establish electric vehicle (EV) assembly operations in Pakistan. This pioneering joint venture is poised to set a new benchmark for sustainable mobility by producing locally assembled EVs at competitive costs.
The agreement will enable the assembly of Chery’s eQ and Tiggo EV models using Completely Knocked Down (CKD) kits imported from China. Nishat Group will invest in assembling facilities, localization of components, and service infrastructure through its expansive distribution network. The vehicles are expected to offer high range, modern interiors, smart connectivity, and competitive pricing.
Committed to supporting Pakistan’s National Electric Vehicle Policy, Nishat Group aims to reduce import dependency and encourage sustainable ownership patterns. The venture includes plans for service network setup, charging station partnerships, and customer education programs on EV benefits and ownership experience.
Executives from both firms emphasized the importance of this collaboration in catalyzing EV adoption. They plan initial rollouts in major metro areas followed by expansion into tier‑2 and tier‑3 cities. A comprehensive financing strategy and warranty support structure are also being developed.
By bringing EV assembly and after-sales operations to local soil, Nishat Group and Chery are paving the way for technology transfer and high-skilled job creation. Their strategy supports economic diversification and aligns with global green mobility trends—positioning Pakistan as a future hub for accessible electric vehicles.
