SECP New Company Registrations Reach 5,241 in September

Date:

SECP new company registrations reached 5,241 in September 2026, pushing the number of registered companies in Pakistan to 317,002.

What the September SECP new company registrations show

The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan said in its monthly release that 99.9 percent of the new incorporations were completed online, through the eZfile portal and linked federal and provincial systems. Private limited companies made up 3,013 of the total, or 57.5 percent, while 2,058 single member companies took 39.2 percent. The remainder was 127 limited liability partnerships, 29 not-for-profit Section 42 companies and 14 other entities.

Geographically, Punjab accounted for 2,740 registrations, just over half the month’s total. Islamabad followed with 1,009, then Sindh with 790, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 428, Gilgit-Baltistan with 169 and Balochistan with 105.

Sectors, foreign investors and women’s participation

Information technology was the largest single sector with 920 new companies, ahead of trading at 808, services at 599 and construction at 339. Food and beverages, tourism, real estate development, education and e-commerce each recorded between roughly 180 and 240 incorporations.

The commission counted 167 foreign investors in the month, and China supplied 113 of them. The United States had seven, the United Kingdom six and Hong Kong five. On the gender side, women held 14 percent of shareholder and director positions but only 8 percent of chief executive roles, which shows how far company ownership still skews male.

Why the numbers matter and what comes next

September sits between two strong months. SECP reported a record 5,438 incorporations in July, and Mettis Global reported 4,761 for August, so registrations have stayed above 4,700 for three months in a row. For policymakers, that matters because a company on the register is easier to tax, audit and lend to than an informal business, a point the commission chairman, Dr Kabir Ahmed Sidhu, made when he called incorporation an “important step towards building a formal, documented economy.”

The October figures are likely to appear in the first days of November, and they will show whether the recent pace holds or the July peak was a one-off. Readers following the data should also watch whether the female share of directors and the number of non-Chinese foreign investors move higher.
