Pakistani troops in Saudi Arabia have been stationed there for decades across different domains, Director General ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has said, confirming their presence under the Makkah Agreement.
In an interview with CNN, the DG ISPR said Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have had defence ties for several decades. He added that the troops present under the agreement belong to different domains.
Separately, the Strategic Political and Defence Committee of the Makkah Alliance met in Riyadh to discuss security threats facing Saudi Arabia, a Foreign Office spokesperson said. The committee condemned attempts to target Makkah and Madinah and denounced attacks on Saudi cities, civilians and economic installations. It also approved the recommendations from the consultations.
Retired Lieutenant General Nauman Mahmood was appointed the first Secretary General of the Makkah Alliance for Defence for a three-year term. Pakistan and Turkiye praised the readiness and capabilities of the Saudi Armed Forces.
