Govt Cuts Petrol by Rs5.45 and Diesel by Rs3.68, Second Fuel Price Reduction This Week

Date:

The petrol price in Pakistan has been cut by Rs5.45 per litre to Rs369.06, while high-speed diesel (HSD) is down Rs3.68 per litre to Rs391.52, with the new rates in force from Wednesday, November 4, 2026. It is the second reduction in fuel prices within three days.

According to the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the regulator revised ex-depot prices of petroleum products under the federal government’s pricing mechanism. OGRA linked the change to global developments, including movements in Platts benchmark rates, import premiums and incidental costs.

New Petrol Price in Pakistan From November 4

Product Previous price Change New price
Petrol Rs374.51 -Rs5.45 Rs369.06
High-speed diesel Rs395.20 -Rs3.68 Rs391.52

Second Fuel Price Cut in Three Days

On Monday, November 2, the government had already reduced diesel by Rs7.76 per litre and petrol by Rs3.40 per litre. Taken together, the two cuts have lowered petrol by Rs8.85 and diesel by Rs11.44 per litre in a single week.

Effective date Petrol (per litre) Diesel (per litre)
October 20, 2026 Rs381.14 Rs389.27
Before November 2 Rs377.91 Rs402.96
November 2, 2026 Rs374.51 Rs395.20
November 4, 2026 Rs369.06 Rs391.52

How the Petrol Price in Pakistan Cut Affects You

The savings depend on how much fuel a household or business uses each month. Compared with Monday’s rates, and with last week’s rates before both cuts:

  • Motorcycle rider using 30 litres of petrol a month: saves about Rs164 compared with Monday, and about Rs266 compared with last week.
  • Car owner using 100 litres a month: saves about Rs545 compared with Monday, and Rs885 compared with last week.
  • Goods transporter using 1,000 litres of diesel a month: saves Rs3,680 compared with Monday, and Rs11,440 compared with last week.

The diesel cut is especially important for the wider economy, because diesel runs goods transport, buses, tractors and tubewells. Lower transport and farm costs can ease pressure on food and other prices, at a time when inflation stood at 9.61 percent in October. Whether shopkeepers and transporters pass on the relief to consumers will decide how much people actually feel the lower petrol price in Pakistan.

Petroleum Levy Talks and Refinery Discount

The latest cut comes as the government holds talks with Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) over fuel prices. JI says the government has agreed to abolish the petroleum levy, though no such decision has been formally announced by the government. Senior government leader Ishaq Dar met a JI delegation to discuss fuel prices and relief measures for the public.

The government has also asked refineries for a discount of Rs15 per litre on petrol. Separately, petroleum dealers have claimed that an audit of refineries could bring fuel prices down by Rs40 to Rs50 per litre, a claim the government has not confirmed.

What Happens Next

Fuel rates are now being revised frequently in line with international prices. Global oil markets remain sensitive to the US-Iran conflict and the mediation efforts around it, so prices can move in either direction. Any final decision on the petroleum levy, which makes up a large part of the pump price, would be the biggest factor for the next change in the petrol price in Pakistan.
