Geely Enters Pakistan With Bestway, Unveils 3 Electric Models

Date:

Chinese carmaker Geely has officially entered Pakistan through Bestway Group, unveiling three new energy vehicles at a launch event at Park View City, Islamabad, on Saturday, October 24. With this launch, Geely in Pakistan becomes the latest Chinese brand to bet on the country’s growing interest in electric and hybrid cars.

Bestway Automotive, a new arm of the group, will be Geely’s sole authorised distributor in the country and will handle sales and after-sales service. According to Geely, Pakistan is the company’s first market in South Asia.

Geely in Pakistan: The Three Launch Models

  • Geely EX2: a compact fully electric hatchback aimed at city drivers.
  • Geely EX5: a fully electric SUV for families.
  • Geely Starray EM-i: an SUV that combines an electric motor with a petrol engine, meant for buyers worried about driving range.

Prices, booking dates and final local specifications have not been announced yet. Bestway said these will be shared through its official channels, so any price circulating on social media should be treated with caution until then.

Local Assembly at Port Qasim

The company will start with imported cars while it prepares its plant at Port Qasim, Karachi, for completely knocked down (CKD) assembly. Bestway has acquired the former Proton facility on a 24.71-acre site with more than 403,000 square feet of covered space and the capacity to assemble up to 25,000 vehicles a year.

Warranty, Financing and Charging

Bestway has announced plans for:

  • a nationwide dealership network and online booking;
  • a proposed warranty of up to six years or 150,000 km on the vehicle, and eight years on the battery and motor;
  • car financing through United Bank Limited (UBL), in which the group holds a stake;
  • a nationwide EV charging network through Bestway Renewable Technologies.

What Geely in Pakistan Means for Car Buyers

For buyers, the arrival of another large Chinese brand means more choice in the electric and hybrid segment, which has so far been limited and expensive. A long battery warranty and a charging network could ease two of the biggest worries Pakistani drivers have about EVs: battery life and finding a place to charge.

Local assembly matters because cars built in Pakistan usually face lower duties than fully imported ones, which can make them cheaper. The final effect on prices, however, will only be clear once Bestway announces its rates.

The launch also comes at a time when car sales in Pakistan have picked up, with sales rising sharply in the first quarter of the current fiscal year, while petrol prices remain high and keep changing every day.

Who Are Geely and Bestway?

Founded in 1986, Geely Holding Group sold about 4.12 million vehicles worldwide in 2025, more than half of them new energy vehicles. Its group includes brands such as Volvo Cars, Polestar, Lotus, Zeekr and Lynk & Co.

Bestway, which owns Bestway Cement in Pakistan, says it has invested more than $350 million in the country and created over 20,000 jobs in the last three years. The car business is its first step into the automotive sector.
