Together representing around 928,000 accountants and future accountants across the world, ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) and Chartered Accountants ANZ (CA ANZ) first signed a strategic alliance in 2016. They will celebrate its tenth anniversary next April.
The two organisations have worked closely together, producing 17 joint research reports on future-facing issues for accountants and sharing Continuing Professional Development and learning resources. They have also collaborated on hundreds of member events, and share office space in Asia, Australia and the UK.
Helen Brand OBE, chief executive of ACCA, said: ‘It’s been great to see so many members of both our professional bodies coming together to share their experiences and insights. Our partnership also gives us an amplified voice which helps us influence the big issues impacting the profession and the wider world, such as sustainability reporting and technology. I’m delighted that we’ll be continuing to collaborate.’
Ainslie van Onselen, CEO of Chartered Accountants ANZ, said: ‘For nearly 10 years, our alliance has produced valuable joint research reports and learning resources for our members and other key stakeholders.
‘As accountants and finance professionals take increasingly important roles addressing contemporary challenges and opportunities like AI adoption and a sustainable planet, it’s been mutually beneficial to share our experiences and perspectives to create impactful resources. I’m looking forward to what’s possible as we extend our relationship for a further five years.’
Recent joint research reports produced by the two bodies have focused on issues ranging from the future of finance teams in businesses, to sustainability assurance, to the use of technology in audits. A recent example of the many topics covered by joint events is entrepreneurialism and digital transformation in small businesses. Examples of shared learning opportunities include courses on data, ethics, sustainability and leadership.
The alliance also allows eligible ACCA and Chartered Accountants ANZ members to gain membership of each other’s professional body.
