The Bitcoin price slipped below $80,000 on Monday, falling nearly 2% to about $79,800 in Asian trading as traders cut risk ahead of the US Federal Reserve’s interest rate decision on Wednesday.
Bitcoin Price Needs to Reclaim $82,500
Analysts say buyers would need to push Bitcoin back above $82,500, a level it lost last Thursday, before the dip can be treated as a pause rather than the start of a deeper slide.
Other major coins also moved lower. Ether fell nearly 3% to just above $2,300, XRP lost about 3% to $1.28, and Solana slid 2% to barely hold $100. Dogecoin, Zcash, Hyperliquid’s HYPE and BNB each dropped between 1% and 2%, while Tron was the only major token in the green, up less than 1%.
What Traders Are Watching at the Fed
The Federal Reserve’s policy committee meets on October 27 and 28, and no change in rates is expected. The focus is on the tone of the Fed chair’s remarks. BTSE chief operating officer Jeff Mei said traders are watching how strongly Chair Kevin Warsh hints at a rate hike in December, since tighter policy means less liquidity for crypto and stocks.
Higher oil prices, the escalating US-Iran conflict and inflation could push the Fed towards a harsher tone. Brent crude eased about 2% to roughly $114 a barrel on Monday, while Goldman Sachs strategists cut their 12-month target for South Korea’s Kospi index by 25%.
For Pakistani crypto investors, the move matters because local prices follow the global market and many holders trade through international exchanges that operate under Pakistan’s new virtual asset rules. Volatility around major central bank decisions is common, so risk limits and position sizes deserve extra care this week.
