PTA and FIA Bust Illegal SIM Operation in Kasur

Date:

Recently, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Zonal Office in Lahore, in collaboration with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Crime Circle, orchestrated a successful raid targeting a mobile phone company’s sales channel in Kasur. The operation aimed at curbing the illicit activation of SIM cards and the unauthorized sale of pre-activated SIMs to individuals involved in criminal activities.

During the raid, the FIA team confiscated 53 active SIMs, shedding light on the clandestine network responsible for supplying illegal SIM cards. In a significant development, one individual was apprehended during the operation. This intervention came in response to a complaint previously lodged by the PTA with the FIA, prompted by intelligence regarding the unlawful issuance of SIMs by the identified sales channel.

The collaborative effort between PTA and FIA underscores a commitment to combatting the ongoing challenge of illegal SIM card activation. As part of this effort, an official First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against the accused, signaling a proactive stance against those involved in the unauthorized distribution and activation of SIM cards. These measures are pivotal in maintaining the integrity of the telecommunication system and ensuring that such illicit activities are promptly addressed within the legal framework.

In a related incident just days ago, an individual in Lahore was apprehended with a staggering 1000 illegal jazz SIM cards, highlighting the pervasive nature of this issue and the need for continuous vigilance to safeguard the telecommunications infrastructure.
