It has been revealed that Pakistanis are responsible for 50 percent of the total crimes committed in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This alarming statistic was discussed during a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis, chaired by Senator Zeeshan Khanzada. The committee requested details about 4,000 employment companies during the session.

The Secretary of the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis reported that two million Pakistanis residing in Saudi Arabia send $7 billion in remittances annually. An agreement was recently signed with Saudi Arabia regarding the employment of Pakistani workers, specifying that beggars, the sick, and unskilled individuals should not be sent.
Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted the significant involvement of Pakistani nationals in criminal activities abroad. Specifically, 50 percent of crimes in the UAE are attributed to Pakistanis. This negative perception has led some countries to prefer workers from other nationalities due to the behavior of certain Pakistani citizens.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also noted that 35 percent of Pakistani travelers are flagged upon arrival at foreign airports, indicating a high level of scrutiny. Additionally, Saudi Arabia has requested 10,000 bike delivery boys from Pakistan, showcasing the demand for Pakistani labor despite the challenges faced.
This situation underscores the need for stricter regulations and better screening processes to improve the reputation of Pakistani workers abroad and ensure that only qualified and suitable individuals are sent to work in foreign countries. The committee’s efforts aim to address these issues and enhance the safety and employability of overseas Pakistanis.
