The 57th meeting of the Governing Body of Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) was held today at RDA Conference Room, which was chaired by Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Syed Gulzar Hussain Shah and Chairman RDA Tariq Mehmood Murtaza. A detailed briefing was given before the Governing Body on the agenda of the Expressway and Flood Channel project, the mega project.
On the occasion, the Nespak Private Company stated that the Expressway width has been reduced from 35-50 meters to 25-35 meters due to which the land area has now been reduced. The Green Regulations Intensification and Restoration of Ecosystem through Pothohari Flora (Ten Billion Tree Tsunami) – conservation and restoration of Eco system through potohari flora agenda was also presented to the Governing Body, which approved the draft of Green Regulations. It was informed on the occasion that the project for this corridor would be carried out by a private party Nespak without government funds.
The proposal for the Lai Expressway project is being sent to the public private partnership (PPP) Board for approval and will be tendered after approval. Commissioner Rawalpindi and DG RDA Syed Gulzar Hussain Shah commended Nespak Private Company for its tireless work on the Nullah Lai Expressway project. On this occasion, Chairman RDA Tariq Mehmood Murtaza directed that these projects should be started soon and hard and fast work should be done for their completion. Finally, Commissioner Rawalpindi and Chairman RDA thanked all the members who attended the meeting.
Speaking on it, Federal Minister for Interior Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said about Nullah Lai Expressway that it is a game changer project for the development of Rawalpindi city. It took me 16 years to complete it, he said. The city will be able to avoid floods and the traffic flow from the roads on both sides of Nullah Lai will improve, he said, adding that with the completion of this project, the environment will also improve.
Members of Governing Body RDA including Major (R) Muhammad Latasib Satti MPA PP-6, Ms. Nasreen Tariq MPA (W301), Haji Amjad Mahmood Chaudhry MPA PP-13, Muqarrib Ali Khan Technical Member, DMD WASA, Chief Engineer RDA, Director Admin & Finance RDA, Director MP & TE RDA, Director LD & EM, Deputy Director Admin RDA, Finance Department, HUD & PHE Department, Local Government Department, Commissioner’s Office Rawalpindi, Deputy Commissioner’s Office Rawalpindi and other officers of RDA attended the meeting.
