Electricity prices in Pakistan are expected to fall by 72 paisa per unit under the monthly fuel adjustment mechanism, according to official projections.
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority will consider a request by the Central Power Purchasing Agency seeking the reduction during a hearing today.
According to data shared by the CPPA, distribution companies were supplied with 7.813 billion units of electricity during November in total overall.
The reported cost per unit of electricity during the month stood at Rs 6.16, as CPPA figures showed during the period overall.
In November, hydropower accounted for 39.16% of electricity generation, while local coal contributed 9.34% and imported coal 5.06% during the month reported.
Gas-based generation stood at 8.44%, while imported liquefied natural gas accounted for 8.64%, according to CPPA data for November figures overall reported.
Nuclear fuel represented 25.23% of electricity generation during the same month, the data presented to regulators indicated in the briefing session official.
Separately, petrol prices are expected to be cut by Rs10.60 per litre for the next fortnight from January 1, 2026 onwards period.

Sources said high-speed diesel may fall by Rs8.59 per litre, while light diesel oil could drop by Rs6.62 per litre in prices terms.
Kerosene oil is also expected to decline by Rs8.92 per litre, according to the same sources for consumers during period ahead mentioned.
After the proposed cuts, petrol is expected to fall from Rs263.09 to Rs252.85 per litre, sources indicated in pricing structure officially outlined.
High-speed diesel prices may decrease from Rs267.80 to Rs259.21 per litre following the anticipated adjustment during the same period, sources said earlier.
Officials said the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority will forward its recommendations to the Petroleum Division on December 31 for review process.
The Petroleum Division will announce revised prices after approval by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, according to sources in due course officially stated.
