The discovery was made after neighbors alerted her family to a foul odor coming from her flat. Police were subsequently called to the scene and moved the body to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for initial medico-legal procedures. Her remains were later transferred to the Edhi Foundation mortuary at Sohrab Goth.

Authorities stated that a post-mortem examination will be conducted pending a formal request from her family. Funeral arrangements, including time and location for her final rites, will be announced at a later date.

Ayesha Khan was a respected figure in Pakistani television, known for her performances in several iconic PTV dramas such as Afshan, Uroosa, Aanch, Bandhan, and Shaam Se Pehle. Born in 1948, she was the elder sister of the late actress Khalida Riyasat.

Among her most acclaimed roles was her portrayal in Afshan, where she played a woman left to care for her son and niece after her husband and brother fled to India during Partition. Her character’s emotional depth and resilience left a lasting impression on audiences.

Paying tribute, Ahmed Shah, President of the Arts Council of Pakistan, said, “Ayesha Khan acted for over five decades. Her passing is a tremendous loss to Pakistan’s drama industry.”
